Training equips Catechism Teachers for Faith Formation of Students

Aimed at equipping catholic teachers for the better faith formation of catholic students, one-week training was organized at Divine Retreat Centre Khetri, Assam, from February 8 to 14. The Retreat cum Training of Catechism teachers was initiated by Fr Saji Stephen to bring about a change in the traditional way of teaching Catechism.

Fr Saji, in charge of Education to Faith in the Province of Shillong, coordinated the entire program. Twenty-seven teachers and two brothers from different schools of the Province participated.

The first three days were for retreat animated by fathers from the Khetri retreat centre. It was a prayerful and spiritually enriching experience for the teachers, focusing on the spiritual growth of school children and deepening one's faith. The retreat helped participants assess the state of their spiritual life, preparing them for meaningful confessions.

The last three days were an intensive training program for teachers on Catechism teaching in schools for Catholic students. A team of four persons (two from Bangalore, one from Mumbai, and one from Trivandrum) served as resource persons for the training program. Topics such as Deepening Faith, Methods of Teaching Catechism, Classroom Dynamics, Personal Experience Sharing, Group Work, and Content Preparation were dealt with during the training.
