St. John Paul II, Shillong Province commences Provincial Chapter
The 5th Provincial Chapter of St. John Paul II, Shillong Province commenced with spiritual reflection and an inaugural ceremony. The day began with a recollection animated by Fr. Bernard Pala SDB. Fr. Joy Kachapilly SDB, the animator of the event, detailed the chapter theme, "Passionate about Jesus Christ, dedicated to young people." The recollection culminated with the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. John Zosiama SDB, the Provincial.
The inaugural ceremony began with a warm welcome and introduction by Fr. Denis Lalfela SDB, the moderator of the Chapter. The assembly invoked the Holy Spirit through hymns and prayer, led by Fr. John Zosiama.
Messages of encouragement and appreciation were delivered by distinguished guests, including Fr. Ioannis War and Fr. Davis Aricatt, Fr. Alphonse Owoudou, the Moderator of GC 29, and Fr. Biju Michael, the Regional Councilor for South Asia. Sr. Mabel Dhar VSDB, Sr. Elizabeth George FMA, Sr. Maria Goretti MSMHC, Mr. Valerian Pakma, Mr. Anthony Laloo, and Fr. Richard Majaw also expressed their support and admiration for the Salesians' commitment to youth welfare.
Fr. John Zosiama SDB officially declared the 5th Provincial Chapter of the Shillong Province open, marking the beginning of deliberations aimed at furthering the mission to young people. Fr. Denis, in his closing remarks, extended gratitude to all guests and presented them with special souvenirs.
The Provincial Chapter will end on 10th May with the election of the delegate for the 29th General Chapter to be held early next year in Rome.
