Technical Education Council meet at Chennai HQ

The first Technical Education Council meeting was held at The Citadel, the Head Office of Salesians of Chennai Province, on 12 August animated by the Vice Provincial Fr. Don Bosco and Province Delegate Fr. Thaddeus Gregory. Six coordinators from three technical sectors namely Polytechnic Colleges, ITIs and VTCs, discussed and reviewed the National Policy Documents, Provincial Chapter Deliberations and Province Directory of Policies and Procedures in view of Academic Year 2017-18.
The Technical Council constituted by the Chennai Provincial Fr. KM Jose reports matters of importance concerning planning and execution of Don Bosco Technical Education in the northern part of Tamil Nadu. Fr. Bosco, who appreciated Salesians who contribute to the growth of the trainees in the institution, also pointed out the need to step up the networking with other national bodies like DB Tech India for greater visibility.
Fr.Thaddeus recommended each member to study the National Policy Documents and see how best each institution could involve in the initiatives of the Government in skilling India. Feasibility study to establish a Skilling University for short term courses was commissioned to Fr.James and to Fr. Sundardoss, the skilling programmes through Aaruthal Foundation. The drafting of Technical Directory in view of next Provincial Chapter and the HR Policy document are assigned to Fr.Kulandaisamy Sathiaseelan and Fr.PT Joseph, respectively.
The council appreciated and thanked Fr.Sathiaseelan for his service as Head for a term of six years. The next council meeting is scheduled on Sep 16 at Basin Bridge and AGM on Nov 18, wherein all the Principals of Don Bosco Technical Institutions, Salesians who are qualified for technical education are expected to participate.
