The town and churches of Angamaly welcomed Don Bosco gladly and found time in prayerful moments to be with the saint and to learn more of him.
The relic of Don Bosco brought from Kidangoor through Angamaly Town in an open vehicle was given a civic reception on 1 October. Religious and political leaders were present on the occasion. Students, parents, teachers and the neighbourhood joined in the procession to Don Bosco School. Mothers of the students of Don Bosco school lined up in typical Kerala dress for the procession. Mar James Pazhayattil, former bishop of Irinjalakuda, presided over the Eucharist that followed immediately. Students, class by class, along with their parents venerated the relic after the Mass. After sunset the casket was taken to St Joseph`s Church, Karayamparambu for Mass and veneration. It returned to Don Bosco School for the night vigil during which nearly 20 Salesian co-operators made their promise. On 2 October morning the relic was venerated at St George`s Forane church, Angamaly where Mar Bosco Puthur presided over the Eucharist. The relic was also taken to the Angamaly East Church where over 1700 catechism students and other faithful venerated the relic of St John Bosco.
