The boys of Don Bosco Ajjanahally were eager about November 24th of 2007. They knew their friends from Lufthansa Football Club in Cologne were to challenge them for a game of football. And it happened by the evening of the day at the Kristu Jyoti College grounds in Bangalore. All was well with the day as they parted ways with a win win situation of a drawn match (1-1)
The programme was jointly organized by BREADS and the Lufthansa German Airlines in Bangalore. The football club of Lufthansiers from Cologne decided to spend time with the children of this project on their visit to South India. So they visited the project on November 23rd on their way for the site seeing trip at Mysore.
To make it a football day - the organizers had invited other teams from German Companies such as SAP and Nokia Siemens Network in Bangalore. The youth group from Bosco Nagar around Kristu Jyoti College also put up a team. The teams played friendly matches in the sunny afternoon of 24th November and interacted with the 130 plus children who came over to have a day out with football games.
The medium of football was well taken as a means to come together, to make friends and be enriched. The children did enjoy the day and made lot of new friends. Of course the few who played the game did exhibit great sense of the game and have gone back with resolve to continue to improve the game.
For the 23 member visitors it was a great day of experience and memories. They were equally happy to see the great victorious celebration of the children when they equaled the score with the Lufthansa Team. Witnessing the event was also Ms. Rita Diop - the chairperson of Help Alliance as well as Susanne Winkler a crew member of Lufthansa and Michael a friend of Help Alliance.
May this situation of win - win continue for all involved and interested.
