Savio Juniorate Wins Best Marching Band at Shillong Independence Day Parade
The 79th Independence Day celebrations at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Polo Ground), Shillong, turned into a proud moment for Savio Juniorate as its marching band, representing Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Mawlai, clinched the first prize for Best Marching Band.
The grand parade featured 35 contingents, including disciplined formations from the BSF, CRPF, and 32 schools across the city. Among them, Savio Juniorate stood out for its precision, coordination, and spirited performance, earning top honours from the judges.
The celebrations were further enriched by a series of vibrant cultural performances that reflected the artistic heritage of Meghalaya. The Auxilium NCC band took the spotlight in this segment, securing the first prize for their lively cultural display.
The event, marked by patriotic fervour and youthful energy, highlighted the excellence of Shillong’s schools while honouring the spirit of India’s Independence.
