A book donation campaign, ‘Butterfly Express: Library for Village Schools’, conceptualized by Don Bosco Kalvi Solai, Province of Chennai, aims to set up well-resourced libraries in rural areas and empower children with knowledge and opportunities.

The project aims to empower rural education through accessible and sustainable village school libraries to foster a culture of reading and lifelong learning for every child. People can either donate books or donate for the books. The name Butterfly Express symbolizes the transformation children undergo through reading. Just as caterpillars become butterflies, rural school libraries serve as ‘cocoons,’ where students discover the great possibilities life affords with every page they turn.

After unveiling the campaign's logo, N. Ram, Director of The Hindu Group Publishing Private Limited, said, "If the idea was taken far and wide, the response would be excellent. “In giving books, one has to exercise some judgement. People should not donate books they want to discard but give books of value. There must be a conscious attempt to give good books; you should donate the book you want to keep,” he said.

On the same occasion, Most Rev. Bp. George Antonysamy, the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, released a book, Are You Ready to Love? written by Fr. John Alexander, Vice Provincial of the Province of Chennai.

Butterfly Express is spearheaded by Don Bosco Kalvi Solai under the Patronship of generous individuals, including Mr. N. Ram, Director of The Hindu; Dr. Jayakumar Reddy, Paediatrician at Apollo Hospital; Mr. Joshua Madhan, CEO of Covenant Group; Mr. Sam Prasad, MD of Hild Energy, Mr. Sudhir Peter, MD of Sheenlac Paints Ltd, and Mr. Sivan Arul, IAS.
