Memorial Seminar on Servant of God Father Vendrame, Apostle of Khasis
On 23rd July, the Salesian Shillong Province held a Memorial Seminar on Servant of God Father Constantine Vendrame at Sacred Heart Theological College. Father Richard Majaw, Vicar General, Shillong Archdiocese, was the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Rev Father Genesius Wanniang, the Provincial Economer, Fathers, Sisters, Novices and Youth from Italy under the leadership of Father Lorenzo.
The Seminar began with a hymn to the Holy Spirit, reading from the Word of God, songs and dances. Father Barnes Mawrie, Father Phillip Borjo, and Father Jose Anikuzhikattil explained the life and work of Father Vendrame, the Great Missionary among the Khasi popularly known as the Apostle of the Khasis, who preached about Jesus Christ in the villages of Khasi Jaintia Hills.
Father Lorenzo from Italy gave a message from the life-sketches of Father Vendrame. The one-day program concluded with a song on Father Vendrame written and composed by Father Barnes Mawrie, Don Bosco Novitiate, Sunny Side, Upper Shillong.
