Salesian Institution Brings Laurels to Tripura State
Salesian Institution, St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, has once again brought pride to Tripura by clinching the Third Prize in the National School Band Competition under the Girls' Brass Band Category. The prestigious competition was at Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi from January 21 to 22.
A total of 457 participants from 16 schools across India showcased their musical prowess in the grand finale of the National School Band Competition. The event featured Brass Band (for both Boys and Girls) and Pipe Band (for both Boys and Girls).
Representing the state of Tripura, the St. Xavier's School band made a mark in the competition. Comprising 25 girls aged between 11 and 17 from various villages of Tripura, the school band, which is only eight months old, demonstrated exceptional talent, proving their capability through hard work and dedication. Father Babu Stephen, the Principal, with three other teachers, led the school team to Delhi on January 15.
On the first day, eight schools showcased their skills in playing band instruments accompanied by vibrant dances and steps. On the second day, January 22, the remaining eight schools captivated the audience with their performances.
St. Xavier's School was the second-last team to take the stage and surprised everyone with their talent in playing band instruments. A six-member jury from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force adjudicated the competition over two days, evaluating various criteria including Dress and Instruments, Marches (both Quick and Slow), Formation, Standard of Playing and Quality of Tunes, Presentation, and Timely Completion of Performance.
The results were promptly announced, with St. Xavier's School securing the Third Prize in the Girls' Brass Band Category. The school's remarkable achievement once again brings laurels to the state of Tripura, underscoring its excellence in the National School Band Competition.
