Radio Salesian on air for 8 years
Radio Salesian 90.8 FM, the voice of the hills, held a special event marking the 8th anniversary of its founding during the morning assembly at the Salesian College Sonada on December 8.
After a brief introduction at the special assembly by Bursar Father Raymond Tudu, Founder-Director of the station, Father C.M. Paul introduced the founding Radio Journalists, namely Programme Director RJ Samir Chhetri, RJ Bryan Kerr, senior RJ Moses Tamang, and RJs Bandana Lohagun (Garima), Alisha Gurung and Pratap Rai.
The Interim Vice Principal, Father Pritam Barla, offered Khadas (ceremonial scarf) to the RJs, and the Rector of Salesian College, Father James Chacko, handed over Green Maple Foundation’s National Award 2023 for Entertainment - trophy and certificate - to RJ Samir.
The award was conferred on Radio Salesian at a National event held in Darjeeling last July. The program concluded with RJ Garima sharing her thoughts and vision on how students could benefit by working with Radio Salesian.
Radio Salesian, operating from Salesian College Sonada since 2016, is the first college-based community radio in North Bengal and Northeast India.
