Inter-college mega fest champions global peace
Salesian College Siliguri, advocating peace in the world, hosted the inter-college cultural and music fest ‘Innovision’ for the first time as an autonomous college on November 8 and 9.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the principal of Salesian College, Father Babu Joseph, devoted a moment of silent prayer for victims of flood in the neighbouring state of Sikkim, earthquake victims in neighbouring country Nepal, violence hit people of Manipur state, and victims of Israel-Palestine and Russia-Ukraine wars.
The Interim Vice Chancellor of the University of North Bengal, C. M. Ravindran, IPS (Retd.), graced the event and lauded students and faculty for the noble thought of dedicating the fest to the cause of peace and harmony.
The 10th edition of Innovision had ten colleges, with some 200 students participating in 10 competitions. The competitions were held in Solo singing, Rap, Painting, Sketching, Rangoli and Band on the first day; the second day had solo dance, group dance, non-thematic dance and a fashion show on the theme ‘Nature Vs Technology’.
The Darjeeling-based youth band ‘Obsession’ performed on the first day, and the second day wrapped up with a high-energy DJ evening with DJ Shelly from Dubai, uniting students on the dance floor.
