Life Skills Graduation at KGF
23 February 2009
News written by: BREADS
On February 20, 2009 about 420 girls from St. Theresa`s School and St. Joseph`s School at KGF received certificates for the Life Skills Programme completed in their schools. This was a project of BREADS to prepare the young people for Employability.
About 1000 students from St. Theresa`s School, St. Joseph`s School and the Don Bosco ITI at KGF are part of UDAAN life skills programme since July 2007. The institutions have been trained to offer this to their students along with their regular curriculum.
The trainers as well as the students have shown great interest and change through out the training of Life Skills. ``These classes are different. They are activity based and equip us better to face our life``... has been a common response among the students of this programme.
On February 20, 2009 about 420 girls who are now in the 10th standard, received certificates in two schools at KGF on the completion of the Life Skills Programme.
During the programme, some of the students shared with the gathering about their experiences after going through lessons on managing their personality, time, setting goals etc. The teachers also expressed how the programme is double edged where both the trainer and the trainees benefit from the programme. The trainers also learnt to work on their personality and work through themselves before facilitating this for the students.
It was overwhelming to see the confidence and joy in the students and it was a great privilege to grace this occasion. The Principals and School Management were happy about the programme. Congratulations to Don Bosco, KGF for coordinating the programme and reaching out to the neighbouring area through the Life Skills programme.
We wish these students all the best as they begin to implement these skills for life!!
