In an inspiring act of courage and selflessness, F. Ramropuia, an eighth-grade student from Don Bosco School, Thenzawl, North East India, has been awarded the prestigious National Bravery Award of 2023 by the Government of India. The award was presented to him on 26th January 2025, during the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, in recognition of his heroic efforts to save a life during a family outing in 2023. The award, one of India's highest civilian honours for bravery, is given to children who demonstrate extraordinary courage in the face of danger.

The incident occurred when a family enjoyed a day out near a river. Suddenly, Lalhriatpuia, a member of their group, found herself in a life-threatening situation as the strong currents swept her away and began to drown. Without a moment's hesitation, Ramropuia, despite his young age, jumped into the river to rescue Lalhriatpuia. Displaying remarkable presence of mind and bravery, he managed to pull Lalhriatpuia to safety, saving her from what could have been a tragic end.

The Don Bosco School community, where Ramropuia is a student, has expressed immense pride in his achievement. The school said, "We feel incredibly proud to have a student like F. Ramropuia in our institution. His bravery and selflessness reflect the values we strive to instill in our students. He is an inspiration to us all and a shining example of how young individuals can make a profound difference in the lives of others."

Ramropuia's selfless act and recognition with the National Bravery Award are a testament to his exceptional character.
