Don Bosco Relic in the Diocese of Irinjalakuda

The town and the diocese of Irinjalakuda welcomed the Relics of St. John Bosco with great eagerness and in large numbers. The presence of many people, clergy and religious was inspiring.
The relic of Don Bosco arrived at Lisieux Covent Complex, Irinjalakuda on 29 September at 08.40 a.m. The casket was then transferred to an open vehicle. Rt. Rev. Pauly Kannookkadan, Bishop of Irinjalakuda, officially welcomed the casket of Don Bosco to the diocese of Irinjalakuda at Poothakulam Complex. Later the casket was taken in procession to Don Bosco Schools, Irinjalakuda. Therein the academic community along with the neighbourhood heartily welcomed Don Bosco. It is estimated that about ten thousand people venerated the relic there. After 4 p.m. the casket was taken in procession to St Thomas Cathedral. The Bishop along with the vicars general and the cathedral vicar welcomed the relic at the entrance. The concelebrated Holy Eucharist was presided over by the Bishop. In his homily he explained the significance of devotion to saints and veneration of relics. Thousands of people prayed at the relic before it was moved to Don Bosco, Irinjalakuda for the night vigil. On September 30 Bishop James Pazhayattil presided over the Eucharist in the morning before the relic of Don Bosco bid goodbye to Irinjalakuda.
