Youth Camp Ignites Passion and Purpose at Don Bosco Oodlabari
The Don Bosco School campus in Oodlabari was abuzz with energy and enthusiasm as it hosted the much-anticipated SPARK25 Youth Camp from June 1 to 3. The event drew 187 spirited participants aged between 17 and 25 from 13 surrounding villages. This annual event aimed to create a dynamic platform where faith, creativity, personal growth, and cultural expression could converge.
The camp started with a grand opening ceremony on the afternoon of June 1. The event began with a solemn and colourful procession, followed by a meaningful prayer service and a symbolic lamp-lighting ceremony, officially inaugurating the camp. Parish Priest Fr. Dr. Antony Vayalil, in his welcome address, encouraged the youth to remain open to learning and personal transformation, underscoring the camp’s goal of inspiring and empowering them. Rector and Principal Fr. Dr. Aju Kurian formally declared the camp open, setting the tone for three days of meaningful engagement.
Engaging Activities and Holistic Development
A diverse range of activities, including icebreakers, theme presentations, quiz competitions, cultural exhibitions, extempore speeches, Rangoli-making, canvas painting, and the ever-popular campfire, created a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
In line with the camp’s vision of holistic development, participants had guided meditations and motivational sessions. These sessions were led by notable speakers who brought depth and relevance to the gathering.
Mr. Himanshu Singh, an alumnus of Jadavpur University, delivered a session on career opportunities in the defence sector, inspiring many to consider national service as a viable and noble path. Meanwhile, Dr. Frederick Kerketta, Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, KKM College of Education, Pakur, challenged the youth to realize their potential and break through the cultural and geographical barriers that often limit their ambitions.
A Celebration of Youth Potential
The three-day event was organized by the Bursar and Vice Principal, Fr. John Selvan, along with youth leaders. As SPARK25 concluded, participants left with renewed zeal, valuable insights, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire them in their personal and collective journeys.
