In his message for this particular day, Pope Francis emphasized that God accompanies people on their journey, as He did during the Exodus, affirming that we are all pilgrims journeying toward the Promised Land. He reminded the Church that God not only walks with distressed migrants but is always present with them in their struggles.

The celebration commenced with a Eucharistic celebration by Most Rev. Anil J.T. Couto, Archbishop of Delhi, with priests who have dedicated themselves to serving migrant communities and refugee communities, including Burmese refugees, migrants from Manipur, and members of the Adivasi communities.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the participants showcased their cultural heritage through performances, creating a sense of unity and togetherness. A fellowship meal further enhanced the spirit of solidarity among the attendees.

Key messages and felicitations by Sr. Elsa Muttathu, CRI National Secretary, Dr. Daicy Panna, DPC Secretary, and Fr. Francis Bosco, representing Don Bosco for Migrants, were shared. During his address, Fr. Francis Bosco emphasized two critical actions:

1. Creating a Migrant Forum: This forum aims to advocate and protect the rights of migrants in the Archdiocese, involving civil society organizations, government departments, Bhavans, and well-wishers to form a strong support network.
2. Mandatory Registration: Fr. Bosco highlighted the importance of implementing mandatory registration in all parishes, both in source states (such as Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Northeast states) and in destination parishes in Delhi, to better support and monitor the needs of migrant workers.

The contributions and efforts of Fr. Jaison, Secretary CCBI, and Sr. Rani, Secretary of the Migrant Commission, were acknowledged with gratitude, as well as the presence of Fr. George (CBCI), Fr. Manipadam (Secretary Education CCBI), Fr. Joe Prabu (YaR Forum), Fr. Martin (Jesuit Migrant Ministry), and others who have significantly contributed to the cause of migrants.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment to accompany distressed migrants, especially those working as full-time domestic workers and those arriving in Delhi for seasonal labour. The Archdiocese and the participating communities pledged to continue advocating for the rights, dignity, and well-being of migrants and refugees, ensuring that they are supported and empowered in their journey.
