The jubilee celebrations began with the Solemn Eucharist presided over by Father Michael D’costa and concelebrated by Father Clive Telles, Provincial of the Panjim Province, Father Pascual Chavez, former Rector-Major of the Salesian society, and Salesian confreres of INP. In his homily, Father Figueiredo emphasized the centrality of Christ to religious life. To the crucial question, what are you looking for in the religious and priestly life, he indicated that we should be able to respond, “It is your face, O Lord, that I seek” (Ps. 27: 8-9). He further continued, saying, “When I do, I will discover your will and, in it, your peace; I will walk on your paths, become an enthusiastic and credible sign and bearer of your loving, compassionate, caring face to others, especially to young people.” The soul-stirring choir by the pre-novices of Don Bosco Loutolim helped the congregation to offer praise and thanksgiving for the gift of the Jubilarians.

The short felicitation programme included a choral piece and dance performance by the pre-novices, and musical performances by Father Augustine Fernandes and his group. Provincial, Father Telles and Father Arvind Severes raised the toast to the jubilarians, recalling the invaluable service and dedication made by the jubilarians to the Salesian mission. To mark the momentous occasion, each jubilarian was presented a citation by Father Pascual Chavez, who is presently in Goa to preach a retreat to the leaders of the Province. The relatives of the jubilarians were also present for the celebration besides members of the Salesian family.
