It’s a ding-a-ling for The Home of Love, Snehalaya, as it celebrates the Silver Jubilee Year. On January 6, celebrating the Annual Day of Snehalaya marked the beginning of its Silver Jubilee year. The day began with a Solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Father Januarius S Sangma, Provincial of Guwahati, who coincidentally celebrated his Silver Jubilee of Ordination.

Father Rafael Bejarano Revira SDB, overseeing Social Works within the Youth Services Department of the Salesian Congregation in Italy, Rome, visited various Young at Risk (YaR) centres in the Salesian Province of Bangalore (INK). He was accompanied by Father Joseph Prabu, Executive Director of the DB YaR Forum in Delhi, and Father Francis Bosco, Joint Secretary of the Migrant Ministry within DB YaR Forum, Delhi.

In a powerful demonstration of unity and unwavering dedication to safeguarding the Rights of Children, Dimapur, Nagaland, witnessed an inspiring walkathon organized by AIDA for a Child-Friendly Dimapur on September 23. The event was designed to raise awareness about the fundamental rights of children, foster community solidarity, and champion the cause of a pristine and secure environment for the younger generation.

In a remarkable display of social commitment, the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Thrissur, Kerala, rallied together to provide much-needed assistance to 70 less privileged children in their locality. With their collective efforts, the 85 Youth Centre members raised funds to purchase bags and notebooks for the children, easing the financial burden on their families and supporting their educational pursuits.

The Young at Risk (YaR) Commission of the Salesian Province of Chennai organized YaR Day 2023 on the theme, "Choose Life. Not Drugs", on February 26, 2023. The aim was to spread awareness of substance use disorders among children and young adults. The programme was held at Don Bosco Beatitudes, Vyasarpadi, Chennai.

In a gesture of compassion, the staff and the Salesian community of Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur donated Rupees 10 Lakhs towards the welfare and education of four girls who lost their parents to COVID-19 pandemic.

On May 30, the Salesian communities of Kathmandu valley, supported by the benefactors, donated medical equipment and accessories like oxygen concentrator, oximeters, PPE kits, masks, and sanitiser to the newly opened Covid Centre in Godavari Municipality. The Covid situation, as in other countries, has further impoverished the small mountainous country, Nepal.

The Planning and Development Organisation (PDO; BREADS Bangalore) of the Province of Bangalore, to provide clarity through relevant policies to accomplish its goals, has drafted and released the Child Safeguarding Policies (CSPs) as supportive references for child-related sectors in the Province. The CSPs are for various sectors in the Province like childcare institutions, social work centres, schools, colleges, skill training centres, parishes, aspirantates, pre-novitiate, novitiate, philosophates, and the theologate.

A State Level Consultation on Missing Children and Track Child System was organized by Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights in the State Capital of Kerala, Trivandrum, on 22 May 2014. Fr. Philip Parakatt SDB, Member of Kerala State Child Rights Commission, was the key Organizer of the Consultation. Fr. Philip belongs to the Salesian Province of Bangalore. He was involved in the ministry towards young at risk for the past two decades. The forum consisted of ministers, bureaucrats, Police Officers and activists in the field.

In collaboration with the social Justice Department and the Educational Department, Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society is reaching out to 38 lakhs of School children in Kerala with the CHILDLINE message. As per the statistics of last six months available with CHILDLINE in Kerala, there have been over 2000 children saved from different abusive situations across Kerala. Every month over hundred children undergo some form of abuse.

Fr. Philip Parakatt SDB is the first priest to be appointed by the Government of Kerala as a member of the Kerala Child Rights Commission. Fr. Philip Parakatt SDB has assumed responsibility as member of the Kerala Child Rights Commission. The Government of Kerala in its Cabinet Meeting on 23 December had approved the appointment and announced to the media that six members had been selected for the Kerala Child Rights Commission, which is the Statutory Body for the monitoring and facilitation of Child Rights in Kerala as per the Commissions for the Protection of Child Rights Act 2005 and the Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights 2012.

. (ANS - Rome) - The International Day of the Rights of Children and Adolescents is celebrated all round the world tomorrow, 20 November. Since 2009, this day has also been designated World Day of Prayer and Action for the Children and Youth of the World. To mark the occasion, the Rector Major has sent a message in which he invites the whole Salesian Family to ``promote the right to education for all the children of the world as a tool to combat and prevent child marriage.``

The School Education Commission of the province of Bangalore organized Schools Leaders` Meet for the Don Bosco Schools run by the province in Karnataka. It was held at Don Bosco, Chitradurga, on 29 and 30 June 2013. The participants of the event, about 112 students, were the newly elected representatives of students from all the Don Bosco schools.

BREADS (Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society) Bangalore organized a one-day consultation on ``Children and Health`` in Raichur, in collaboration with Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS), Raichur, and the District NGO Network on 1 July 2013, at KVK Hall, Raichur. This consultation was the last in the series of three consultations organized by BREADS in Karnataka to collate people`s priorities and concerns in the context of developing a new agenda for the Millennium Development Goals post 2015.

A training programme was offered to the leaders of all the Don Bosco Schools in Kerala on 29 June 2013. Nearly 250 students from Don Bosco Schools at Mannuthy, Puthupally, Irinjalakuda, Angamaly and Vaduthala participated.
