Bishop Julius Marandi of Purnea ordained Deacon Nanku Nicholas Besra as priest at St Michael’s Church Kathihar on January 21, 2023. Provincial Fr Joseph Pauria of Kolkata Province and several of his Salesian mentors were among some 60 priests who blessed him at his ordination. Over 2,000 faithful witnessed the ordination ceremony.

In a solemn ceremony held at Salesian College Siliguri, North Bengal has its first Psychology Lab, Wellness Studio and Wellness Woods on February 10, 2023. Located in Taverna Block of Salesian College, Psychology Lab is a facility for research, psychological testing and diagnostics. Wellness studio is a counselling centre open to students and anyone who requires wellness therapy.

Don Bosco School Liluah Alumni marking the 55th year of the School Alumni Association, held their first post-Corona reunion on 15th January 2023. Some 650 past students attended the mega event.

The National Service Scheme (NSS), Program Officer of Salesian College and Assistant Professor Samip Sinchuri, has been selected by the Directorate of NSS, New Delhi, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, to lead the West Bengal contingent in the prestigious Republic Day Parade Camp to be held on 26th January in New Delhi.

West Bengal Education Minister Prof Bratya Basu handed over the letter of Approval of Autonomy for Salesian College in the presence of North Bengal University Vice Chancellor Prof Om Prakash Mishra, Inspector of Colleges Dr Subrata Sanyal and Registrar Dr Nupur Das (Officiating) to Principal Prof (Fr.) George Thadathil. Salesian College is the third autonomous college in Bengal.

Contrada Marinelli, BARI, Italy 6 April -- The new Salesian provincial of Kolkata, Fr Thomas Ellicherail along with fellow chapter member Br Mathew Thaiparampbil visited the native place of the Servant of God Salesian Fr Francesco Convertini. Fr. Convertini a Salesian Missionary who worked in Krishnagar, India, for almost 50 years and died on 11th February 1976 is buried adjacent to the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral Krishnagar, India.

ROME, 2 April - A brand new digital animation DVD film on Johny Bosco`s dream at nine reached Chapter Moderator Fr Francesco Cereda last week. The original concept and character creation by an Indian Salesian Brother captures GC theme - Da Mihi Animas, Caetera Tolle. The moderator may screen the short film in Italian language, in the coming days.

KRAKOW, Poland, 30 March -- Eleven Indian Salesians were part of a group of 47 Students from Salesian University Rome (UPS) making their annual retreat in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II, 24-30 March. They hailed from over 20 countries. The Indian delegation included PK John, VJ Francis, Moncy and Kapli (INK); Clement, Rozario and Augustine (INM); Felix (INP), Shourie (INH) Lobo (MOZ) and CM Paul (INC).
