Kolkata Province holds International Youth Fest
The Kolkata Salesians organised a three-day international youth fest at Don Bosco School Siliguri from 26 to 28 January, on the theme, ‘Dream that makes you Dream’. Some 700 plus young people from 24 Salesian parishes of Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh and Nepal participated.
The Youth Fest was based on the motto for the year by the Rector Major Father Fernandez Artime Angel, ‘Dream that makes you Dream’. The various sessions for the fest included the Extensive study of the theme, Addictions and Deliverance, Youth and Environment, Prayer Experiences, Don Bosco Quiz, Celebration of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Penance, and Drawing up lines of action.
The fest showcased a gala cultural evening exhibiting the talents of youth from Hindi, Bengali, Sadri, Santhali, and Nepali linguistic groups. Besides the hosts, eminent guests at the event included Bishop Vincent Aind, Archbishop-elect of Ranchi, Kolkata Provincial Father Joseph Pauria, Vice Provincial Father Sunil Kerketta, Don Bosco Youth Animation India Director Father Patrick Lepcha from New Delhi and Air Force Major Giffin George who gave a motivational speech.
