Fr Filiberto, Councillor for Social Communication, Visits Bangalore

Fr. Filiberto, General Councillor for Social Communication, animated the Province of Bangalore from 22 to 24 November 2012.

It was the maiden visit of Fr Gonzalez Plasencia Filiberto SDB to the Province of Bangalore. His first main interaction in the province was with the members and associates of the Provincial Commission for Social Communication. He impressed upon the commission members the mind of the Salesian Congregation about Social Communication. In the evening he visited the parish community of Don Bosco, Lingarajapura (Bangalore) and the formation communities of Visvadeep and Kristu Jyoti College (Bangalore), addressing the latter during the Goodnight Talk. On the second day, Fr Filiberto spoke to the young priests of the Province, about 40 in number, gathered at the Provincial House for their annual animation. He inspired them with the message that the life and witness of the communicator is the essence of communication. He underscored that production (communication aids) comes after formation, animation and information. The Councillor`s visit to the BOSCO Project on behalf of the Young at Risk (YaR) gave him an opportunity to have a taste of the enormous mission that the Province carries out for the marginalized sector of the society. On his return he presided over the Mass with the young priests. The visit of Fr Filiberto, though brief, was intense, homely and inspiring.
