Bro Muller Jean Paul, the Economer General, on the sidelines of the meeting of Planning and Development Offices in Hyderbad, honoured Don Bosco, Bidar with his visit on 5 November.
It was a day of pleasant surprise for the Don Bosco Community at Bidar in North Karnataka. The information of the visit of Bro. Jean Paul Muller, the Economer General, was received with gladness and great joy. The other Salesian communities of North Karnataka region also ensured their presence with the visitor and the local community on 5 November 2011. Bro. Muller who is presently in Hyderabad for the meeting of the `Planning and Development Offices` had time before the start of the meeting on 6 November and readily accepted the invitation to visit Bidar. He was accompanied by Mr. Nelson Panedo, the Mission procurator of Don Bosco Mission, Bonn. Leaving about 7 am from Hyderabad the visitors arrived at Don Bosco, Bidar with Fr. Joseph Elavanal the Executive Director of BREADS, and Fr. George Mathew, the Provincial Economer. After a short interaction with the child labourers on rehabilitation at the centre and the staff of the reach out programmes, the visitors were taken to a village school in the rural part of the district where awareness on child right issues and child help line was being organized for the school. After spending about an hour in the programme, the visitors returned to the house. The Salesians from the three other Salesian communities also arrived and had a few moments of interaction with the Economer General and enjoyed a Salesian meal during which Bro. Muller also talked to the Salesians informally. After lunch, Bro. Muller and Mr. Nelson had opportunity to the see the facilities in the centre such as the training centre, the residence of the child labourers, and also learn more about the plans for the future such as the skill training centre to be built up etc. In his interaction Bro. Paul expressed happiness at being able to `be in touch with the roots` of the Salesian work. He encouraged the children to learn and realize their potentials. The group returned back to Hyderabad to continue with the scheduled meeting. It was an experience of joy and gladness for the Salesian Communities in North Karnataka. The Salesians felt happy at being able to meet and interact with the Economer General. The very Salesian and family atmosphere was appreciated by all. The province is grateful to Bro. Muller and Mr. Nelson for this very welcome visit.
