BOSCO SEVA KENDRA: Bosco Seva Kendra serves as the Planning and Development Office for the Province of St. Joseph, Salesians of St. John Bosco, Hyderabad, India. The Salesians of St. John Bosco was founded by St. John Bosco in 1859 in Turin, Italy with the mandate of helping poor children, youth, and young people. Since its inception, the Salesians of St. John Bosco have grown from their origins in Northern Italy to being present in 117 countries and operating one of the largest networks of charitable institutions that benefit youth and young people.

The Salesians of St. John Bosco arrived in India in 1906 and established a home for poor boys, and a skill training center in Mylapore, India. Today, the organization is present across the country with over 500+ charitable institutions. In 1964, the Salesians of St. John Bosco took over a technical school and St Michael’s home for poor boys in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Today, the organization operates 31 Institutions in the region with a variety of activities – Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In 2008, we expanded our institution network to South Odisha namely in Koraput District later it was shifted to Muniguda, Rayagada District, where we operate a residential school for poor children from remote villages.
In 1993 in order to provide better oversight and support to the mission of the organization, the Salesian Province of St. Joseph, Hyderabad was established to serve as the administrative hub for Don Bosco Institutions in the region with Bosco Seva Kendra serving as the Planning and Development Office for the Province. Over the past few decades, our organization has been involved in rescuing hundreds of children from extreme poverty, homelessness, child labour, and various other tragic circumstances, educated tens of thousands of poor children from urban and rural areas, and provided job opportunities, skill training, and technical education to youth who are poor.
Bosco Seva Kendra and Don Bosco India are committed to advancing equal opportunities for youth and young people to complete their education, pursue professional career opportunities, and be provided with the skills and formation to succeed in a globalized world.
