Don Bosco Civil Engineering Institute (Metiyagane, Sri Lanka)

In Metiyagane, Sri Lanka, is found the Don Bosco Civil Engineering Institute, a high quality vocational training center run by the Salesians of Don Bosco, who have been operating in the country since 1956 and have a long experience in the field of professional training. The school was inaugurated in 2010 and didactic activities started in 2011. Since then, about 400 boys and girls have been able to receive a degree in Civil Engineering and in English. 230 students received the NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Level 4 certification, while 50 students were awarded the NVQ Level 5 diploma. All these years have shown that a high level technical school is very much needed in Sri Lanka. A school capable of preparing young people capable of using a technical and logical basis and, why not, moral in planning, budgeting, directing and accounting for work on site. The Don Bosco Civil Engineering Institute is the realization of a dream of those who believed, like St. John Bosco, in the importance of promoting education as the key to future change. Thanks to this dream, a school was built from scratch that offers nationally recognized courses equipped with technological laboratories, classrooms, a boarding school for boys, a refectory and a sports center.
