Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil, former Provincial Superior of Bangalore Province, has published an article on the question of voluntary renunciation of alcohol, in the latest issue of Bosco Udayam published from Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore. Echoing Pope John Paul II`s conviction that alcoholism is one of the worst plagues of modern society, he observes that today young people in particular are very much affected by alcoholism. After listing several motives for abstaining from alcohol, he concludes pointing out to our duty to``wake up the world`` and to be models for the young, and therefore to abstain from alcohol``.
