Sacred Heart Theological College hosts Youth Fest 2023: ‘With the Youth on the Synodal Path’
The vibrant and spirited youth of Shillong, Mawlai, gathered in numbers at the Sacred Heart Theological College on October 15 for the Annual Youth Fest 2023. The theme 'WITH THE YOUTH ON THE SYNODAL PATH' resonated deeply with the youth as they came together to celebrate the boundless potential of their generation. Over 1400 youth from Shillong and its neighbouring regions participated, creating a vibrant and diverse gathering.
The event commenced with a solemn Holy Eucharistic celebration by Father Hilarious Lamare, Vicar General of the Jowai Diocese. The spiritual start set the tone for a day of inspiration and growth. The keynote speaker for the event, Anthony Khongsit, motivated the youth, emphasizing the critical role they play in shaping the future of the nation and culture. Mr. Khongsit urged young minds to embrace leadership with commitment, dedication, and perseverance. He highlighted the importance of saying "no" to harmful influences such as drugs and alcohol and encouraged them to always stand up for what is right and good. His words of wisdom left a lasting impact on the audience, who departed with renewed enthusiasm for a positive change.
As the day unfolded, post-lunch, the Fest became a colourful showcase of the diverse cultures of the North East. Various youth groups presented their rich cultural heritage through vibrant dance performances, thought-provoking skits, and songs. The crowd was enthralled by the cultural diversity and unity, fostering an environment of mutual learning and respect.
The Annual Youth Fest 2023 provided a platform for young minds to celebrate their potential and learn from one another, strengthening their resolve to be leaders of change in their communities.
