DBSM, a state-of-the-art Skill Development Centre inaugurated in Bangalore

. Bangalore: Don Bosco Skill Mission (DBSM), the master training skill development centre of Don Bosco Tech Society was inaugurated in Bangalore, on 19 March 2015 by the Salesian Regional Councillor for South Asia Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, SDB. DBSM is a state-of-the-art innovation centre of the Salesians of Don Bosco in India for the training of trainers in imparting professional skills to the youth of India.
The newly inaugurated sprawling 75,000 sq. ft. campus of DBSM has been set up by the Don Bosco Tech (DB Tech) Society with the whole-hearted support of the Don Bosco family in India. DB Tech understands that the trainers are the backbone of the organisation and the foundations in achieving the desired mission with greater quality. Amalgamating quality with technological advancement, DBSM has been evolved as a master training centre for upscaling, upgrading and updating both the technical skills as well as the soft skills of trainers working across India in the common mission of `Skilling India`. Fr. Maria Arokiam cut the ribbon to inaugurate the development centre and thereafter lit the Indian ceremonial lamp along with other dignitaries present for the occasion - the French Consul General Mr. Eric Lavertu, Ms. Manuela Balett from the Bachmann Foundation, former Salesian Provincial of Bangalore Fr. Thomas Anchukandam, Salesian Provincial of New Delhi Fr. Jose Mathew, SDB, and Ms. Bidisha Das, Assistant Manager, M&E and MIS, Guwahti. The alumni of Dimapur DB Tech centre rendered a soulful prayer song during the inauguration ceremony, and the DBSM campus and new buildings were blessed. The function was also coupled with the inauguration of the `Schneider Centre of Excellence` by the French Consul General Mr. Eric Lavertu. During the function, the DB Tech alumni brought a sense of pride to one and all by narrating their candid stories of a life-altering experience through DB Tech`s skill training. Fr. Maria Arokiam congratulated Fr. A. M. Joseph SDB, the Executive Director of DB Tech, for his passion and persistence to achieve his dream for DB Tech, facing all odds. Fr. Anchukandam narrated the history of DB Tech and congratulated all those who were agents in its laudable achievements down the years. While addressing the gathering, Fr. A.M. Joseph spoke about the purpose and objectives behind establishing Don Bosco Skill Mission. ``In coordination with Government departments, private and professional organizations, DB Tech will achieve its mission by innovating various skill training models catering to different groups of youth in various geographical locations and needs,`` he said. He declared that using DBSM and other centres, DB Tech has set a target to train 2.2 million youth by 2022. The new resource development centre has meeting halls, offices, conference room, auditorium, residential facilities, staff quarters and state-of-the-art labs. The labs are for advanced skill development courses like Electrical, Plumbing and Air Conditioning, which are to be conducted with technical and infrastructural support from its long-standing Corporate partners like Schneider Electric, Jaguar, GREE, Taj, Accenture, Godrej and VDMA. Besides the VIP dignitaries, the august gathering that participated in the inauguration function consisted of priests, nuns, staff, alumni from DB Tech centres and various other Don Bosco institutions.
