India’s largest airline successfully conducted a campus recruitment drive for Cabin Crew positions in collaboration with Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI) at the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Laitumkhrah, Shillong.

The walk-in interview, held at ESTI’s training centre within DBYC, drew a tremendous response from young aspirants across the North Eastern region. Out of 700 online registrations, 242 candidates appeared for the interview and assessment rounds. Following a rigorous selection process, four candidates were chosen to join the airline as Cabin Crew members.

The event marked a significant milestone for Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong — a first-ever direct airline recruitment drive hosted on its campus. The Centre, well-known for its vocational and career-oriented training initiatives, has been dedicated to equipping youth with employable skills and promoting self-reliance through practical programs such as tailoring and entrepreneurship training.

Earlier in September 2025, ESTI and Don Bosco Youth Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on employment-linked training and recruitment in Aviation, Hospitality, and Luxury International Cruise Lines. This partnership aims to empower educated yet unemployed youth in Meghalaya and the North East with globally relevant skills and access to promising career opportunities.

Reflecting on the drive, Fr. Michael Makri, SDB, Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre, said, “It is disheartening that only four out of 700 applicants were selected. Many fell short in height, health, or communication skills, particularly in Hindi and English. I encourage them to return for further training and preparation.”

Fr. Makri expressed profound gratitude to IndiGo Airlines and Emporium Skills Training Institute for their collaboration, reaffirming the Centre’s mission to open new pathways for youth employment and career growth in the aviation and service industries.
