Youth Baroda Deanery Day Unites Young Faith Leaders at Don Bosco Makarpura
The much-anticipated Youth Baroda Deanery Day brought together young people from seven parishes on Sunday at Don Bosco Parish, Makarpura, in a celebration of faith, leadership, and community.
Participants from Don Bosco Baroda, Rosary Cathedral, Sacred Heart Sama, St. Joseph’s Church, Infant Jesus Gorva, Our Lady of Fatima Gothada, and Padra Parish joined the day-long programme, which began with a prayer service led by the youth of St. Joseph’s Church.
Fr. Shaun, Youth Delegate of Don Bosco Makarpura, welcomed the gathering and set the tone with engaging ice-breaker activities. The highlight of the morning was a leadership session conducted by Fr. Kaushik, Youth Director of Baroda Diocese, along with Fr. Edwin Anand, Youth Director of Ahmedabad Diocese. They encouraged the youth to embrace responsibility and take active roles in their deanery and parish communities.
The day also marked the election of new deanery office bearers. Darren Lobo was elected President, Abin Thomas as Vice President, Wilson as Secretary, and Jenis Fernandes as Joint Secretary.
The spiritual heart of the gathering was the Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. Brian Moras SDB, joined by several priests from the diocese. The afternoon shifted to cultural expressions of faith as youth groups performed gospel dances and action songs, showcasing creativity and devotion.
A 45-minute Zumba session led by Fr. Shaun and his youth team added vibrancy to the programme, bringing participants together in music and movement. The day ended on a high note, with participants carrying home a renewed sense of unity, purpose, and joy.
