The Santino Mondini Hall at Don Bosco College, Kurla, resonated with music, drama, and devotion on December 19 as the campus hosted a captivating Christmas Musical that vividly brought alive the true spirit of Christmas through the timeless story of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ.

More than a stage performance, the one-hour musical proved to be a deeply moving experience for the audience, blending faith, creativity, and youthful energy. Entirely conceptualized, created, and performed by the college's students, the production stood out as a remarkable example of student leadership and initiative. Adding to its distinctiveness was the close collaboration among students from three different departments, who worked together with a shared artistic and spiritual vision.

Despite demanding academic schedules, the students demonstrated exceptional commitment, dedicating over a month to daily rehearsals, followed by two intensive days of stage practice. Their perseverance was evident in the seamless execution of the musical, which integrated drama, dance, and music into a fluid, engaging narrative.

What made the production particularly inspiring was that every element of the musical was self-created by the students. From scripting and song writing to choreography and stage execution, each aspect was crafted with sincerity and originality. A live choir performing in five different voices added emotional depth and musical richness, enhancing the overall impact of the performance and holding the audience spellbound throughout.

Special appreciation was extended to Dr Tanishia Lobo, the faculty in charge, whose guidance and encouragement played a vital role in shaping the production. Reflecting on the journey, she remarked that the performance stood as a testament to what can be achieved when willpower is matched with dedication and perseverance, describing the musical as a celebration of talent, creativity, and teamwork.

Student leaders also shared insights from their experience. Ms Laeticia Costa Corriea, Overall Student In-Charge, described the musical as a profound learning opportunity in coordination, leadership, and teamwork, noting that the unity among performers and backstage crew ensured a smooth and rewarding production. Mr Neo Gonsalves, Student Coordinator and Choir Conductor, highlighted the challenge and fulfillment of training students in four-part harmony, which ultimately resulted in a musically cohesive and impactful presentation.

Audience reactions further underscored the event's success. One student described the musical as mesmerizing and deeply heartfelt, noting its lasting emotional impact. Fr Nelson, in his remarks, praised the musical as one of the finest events he had attended, stating that it set a new benchmark for student-led initiatives at the college.
