The Province of Guwahati hosted the Rectors and Community Leaders Meeting at the Provincial House, Panbazar, under the theme “Passionate for Jesus Christ, Dedicated to the Young.” The gathering brought together Salesian leaders from across the Province for a day of reflection, discussion, and renewed commitment to their mission.

Welcoming the participants, Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, emphasized the significance of such meetings in strengthening leadership, communion, and mission. A special felicitation was offered to Fr. Biju Michael SDB on his reappointment as Regional Councillor for South Asia. Students of Don Bosco School, Panbazar, marked the occasion with a congratulatory song, while he was honoured with an Assamese gamocha and flowers.

In the keynote animation, Fr. Biju Michael presented the newly formulated Six-Year Plan (2025–2031) for South Asia, outlining priorities such as the primacy of Christ, fraternal community life, preferential option for the poor, renewal of formation, collaboration with the laity, and youth accompaniment in the digital age. He also highlighted poverty eradication programmes, the proposed South Asia Animation Campus at DBRC Bengaluru, and the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence in education and pastoral work.

Fr. Biju urged the rectors and leaders to keep Christ at the centre of their mission, nurture fraternal living, and dedicate themselves to the poor and young amidst changing socio-cultural realities. His reflections sparked lively discussions on pastoral challenges, collaboration, and the evolving role of Salesians.

Other sessions included a presentation on Young at Risk (YaR) by Fr. Joe Prabu SDB, emphasizing the need for stronger interventions for vulnerable youth, and a financial overview by Fr. Jayaprakash Anthonimuthu SDB, Economor, who highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and sustainability in resource management.

In his concluding exhortation, Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal called on all leaders to remain faithful to their vocation, foster unity, and embrace co-responsibility in carrying forward Don Bosco’s mission in today’s world.
