Radio Club Launches Open-Stage App on World Radio Day

13 February 2026
News reported by: Angel Raju

The Radio Club of Salesian College Autonomous, Siliguri, marked its first anniversary with the launch of Open Stage, a digital public platform designed to give individuals an accessible space for expression. The initiative went live on the eve of World Radio Day, aligning with UNESCO’s global observance that celebrates radio as a medium of dialogue, freedom of expression, and community connection.

Accessible at radioclubstage.netlify.app, the platform is not a conventional college club webpage but an open-access digital microphone.

The App designer MA student Anand Kumar says, “It invites contributions from anyone — students or members of the wider community — without requiring formal membership.”

“This is a digital microphone for anyone who has never been handed one before,” said Fr. C.M. Paul, Director of Radio Club, highlighting the inclusive vision behind the initiative.

The Radio Club was established on 13 February 2025 under Fr. Paul’s direction and co-founded by Anand Kumar and Ali Moizuddin. Over the past year, it has produced structured podcast programming, hosted Creative Canvas — a monthly platform for artistic expression — and contributed to campus media initiatives. It has also implemented a structured leadership and recognition system, including weekly contributor awards and annual excellence awards.

Reflecting on the journey, co-founder Anand Kumar explains, “We wanted to create a space where stories, reflections, and creative voices could be shared freely, without barriers. Open Stage is about democratizing dialogue.”

The club’s efforts have already gained recognition during institutional events attended by a Member of Parliament and aligned with the United Nations Agency for Development and Peace (UNADAP) framework discussions on youth participation.

It has collaborated with the Don Bosco Green Alliance on sustainability initiatives, spearheaded the Green Campus Initiative, and showcased student-led innovation projects, including AI-based presentations.

“Radio Club is more than a student activity; it’s a training ground for communication, leadership, and creative confidence,” noted Ali Moizuddin, emphasizing its dual role as a creative space and professional platform.

Looking ahead, the Radio Club envisions encouraging public dialogue among youth, creating safe spaces for storytelling, promoting creative confidence, and strengthening community participation beyond campus boundaries.
