Pictorial Book on St Artemide Zatti Released in Bodo Language at SAFC Meet in Goa
The official release of the Bodo language edition of the pictorial book on St Artemide Zatti, a celebrated Salesian saint of the sick and poor, was launched at the Salesian Provincial House, Odxel, Goa, during the ongoing Annual South Asia Formation Commission (SAFC) Meeting.
The release was officiated by Fr. Silvio Roggia SDB, General Councillor for Formation, in the presence of key dignitaries, including Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil SDB, Bro. Raymond Callo SDB from the Formation Team in Rome, Fr. John Zosiama SDB, Provincial in charge of Formation, Bro. James Marcus SDB, SPCSA delegate, Fr. Banzelao Teixeira SDB, SAFC Coordinator, and other members of the South Asia Formation Commission.
Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, introduced the book and highlighted its cultural and spiritual significance. He noted that the Garo edition had previously been released by Bishop Andrew R. Marak, D.D., Bishop of Tura.
The idea of translating the book into regional languages was conceived during the SPCSA Annual Meeting of 2023. This initiative underscores the Salesian commitment to inclusivity and cultural contextualization in formation and evangelization efforts.
The release was made possible through the concerted efforts of many, with special thanks offered to Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of Guwahati, for his encouragement, Fr. Jayaprakash Anthonimuttu SDB, the Economer, for financial backing, Fr. Joy Kachappilly SDB, Social Communication Delegate, and Fr. Charles Deepen Lakra SDB, who supervised the translation and printing process.
The publication of the Bodo edition is a significant step toward making the inspiring life and mission of St Artemide Zatti accessible to indigenous and linguistic communities in Northeast India, fostering a deeper connection with the Salesian charism.
