DOOM DOOMA, July 12:
Over 800 Youth Attend Faith and Leadership Programme at Doom Dooma Parish
News reported by: Fr. Blasius Tete sdb, IND
More than 800 young people from villages across St. Joseph Catholic Parish gathered on July 12 for a one-day Youth Animation and Motivational Development programme to deepen faith, nurture leadership, and inspire them to become active witnesses of the Gospel.
Organised at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Doom Dooma, the programme was led by the Don Bosco Youth Empowerment Services (DBYES) team under the guidance of Fr. Theotimus Lakra, with Br. Paul Leriina and Br. Dhiraj Bhengra facilitating interactive sessions throughout the day.
The event focused on helping participants discover their God-given purpose while encouraging them to live as agents of hope and service within their families, parishes, and communities. Through a blend of spiritual reflection, motivational talks, music, and group activities, the programme sought to strengthen the faith and commitment of the young participants.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Theotimus Lakra urged the youth to become instruments of hope in society. “Be the light... bring hope, truth, and goodness wherever you go, just as a lamp dispels darkness,” he said.
Br. Dhiraj Bhengra encouraged participants to discern their vocation and use their talents generously. “Know your purpose... discover God's plan for your life and use your talents in service to others and the Church,” he told the youth.
Among the highlights were the interactive sessions titled "Be the Light" and "Know Your Purpose," which combined faith formation with motivational activities. Traditional Adivasi cultural honours and vibrant musical performances added a festive dimension to the programme, celebrating the region's rich cultural heritage while reinforcing Christian values.
