ECHOES 2026 Brings Together Youth for Formation and Leadership in Hyderabad

News reported by: Muthyala Sudhakar [INH]

ECHOES 2026, a province-level youth formation initiative of the Salesian Youth Movement under the Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad, was successfully conducted at BIRDY Hyderabad from 25 to 27 January. The three-day programme brought together young participants from various Salesian presences across Telangana for an intensive leadership training, learning, and personal formation programme.

The programme was coordinated by Fr Yeruva Joji, Provincial Youth Director, with the support and collaboration of the province's regional youth directors. The event aimed to equip young people with the skills and values needed to respond effectively to contemporary social and personal challenges, in keeping with the Salesian vision of youth empowerment.

ECHOES 2026 formally began with the inauguration of the “Don Bosco Loves You” photo point, symbolizing the Salesian charism of accompaniment, encouragement, and affirmation of young people. The core of the programme consisted of structured input sessions, group animations, and guided discussions focusing on key areas such as life skills, faith and values, responsible use of technology, ecological responsibility, and civic awareness. Participatory methods enabled the participants to engage actively, reflect on real-life situations, and explore practical responses relevant to their own contexts.

Leadership development and personal growth were central components of the programme. Sessions on dreaming and goal-setting, vocational awareness, and career guidance invited participants to critically reflect on their future pathways and responsibilities as emerging leaders. Daily prayer moments and reflections provided space for spiritual grounding and shared learning, while evening cultural programmes and creative expressions fostered confidence, group bonding, and a vibrant community spirit.

The Hyderabad programme formed part of a wider provincial initiative, with similar ECHOES 2026 gatherings held earlier at Don Bosco, Kadapa; Don Bosco, Guntur; and Don Bosco, Narsipatnam, ensuring wider youth participation across regions.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session and collective reflection, as participants shared insights and key takeaways. ECHOES 2026 emerged as a significant initiative in forming responsible, faith-filled, and socially conscious young leaders inspired by the spirit of Don Bosco.
