Don Bosco Vazhikaatti organised a Job Fair 2026 at St. Mary’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, St. Mary’s Co-Cathedral, George Town, Chennai, bringing together 250 job seekers and 28 leading companies. The event commemorated the 150th anniversary of the Salesian Cooperators and highlighted their enduring commitment to service, inclusion and social transformation.

The job fair brought together 250 job seekers and 28 leading companies across diverse sectors, creating employment opportunities and career pathways. The initiative focused on empowering local youth and enabling access to employment.

A significant feature of the event was the participation of 20 Persons with Disabilities (PwD), who were provided tailored employment opportunities. The initiative promoted equal opportunity and challenged barriers to workplace inclusion.

The participation of employers, job seekers, dignitaries, volunteers, and PwD candidates reflected the Salesian Cooperators’ 150-year legacy of service and empowerment. Patrick and Arkadius, volunteers from Poland, described the programme as a valuable cross-cultural learning experience.

For several participants, the job fair resulted in concrete employment opportunities. Sageetha, one of the job seekers, said the event helped her interact directly with recruiters, explore opportunities across sectors, and secure a job.

Employers also appreciated the inclusive approach. Preedesh of TATA Capital said the company was impressed by the enthusiasm and diversity of candidates, particularly the participation of persons with disabilities, and that the platform made recruitment efficient and meaningful.

The event was coordinated by Fr. Joe Anand, Director of Don Bosco Vazhikaatti, and his team.

The programme was graced by Fr. Maria Louis SDB, INM Provincial Delegate of the Association of Salesian Cooperators, who was the Chief Guest. Fr. Rajan Pushpam SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Co-Cathedral, George Town; Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur; Fr. Gabriel SDB, National Director of the Don Bosco Job Placement Network; and Mr Vimalan, Province Coordinator of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (INM), were the Guests of Honour.
