Don Bosco School Organises 5K RUN

As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Don Bosco School, Irinjalakuda, Kerala, a 5K RUN (5 kilometres running race) was organized on April 1, 2023, with the tagline, ‘Run against drug abuse, run to stop violence against women.’ Dr R. Bindu, Minister for Higher Education, Kerala, flagged off the 5K RUN at Don Bosco school premises, preceded by a warming-up session with a Zumba dance.

Nearly 1000 participants, with ages ranging from 2 to 71 years, took part in the event. The route chosen for the event passed through Irinjalakuda town. It was a feast for the eyes as the participants dressed in white T-shirts ran for a noble cause. The finishing line was at the Don Bosco school premise. Joel Sunny, who secured the first prize in the Gents’ general category, reached the finishing line within 20 minutes. In the Ladies’ General category, Nadiya K.S. secured first place. Mr Saneesh Kumar Joseph, MLA of Chalakudy Assembly constituency, distributed the prizes.

The Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Schools, Father Emmanuel Vattakunnel, welcomed all, and Mrs Laiza Sebastian proposed the vote of thanks. Father Santhosh Manikombel, Principal of Don Bosco HSS, Father Manu Peedikayil, Principal of Don Bosco Central School, Father Joyson Mulavarikkal, the administrator and Father Josin Thazhethettu, graced the occasion.
