Don Bosco Matunga Oratory Celebrates Annual Day with a Call to ‘Spread Peace, Build Relationship’
The annual day celebration of the Don Bosco Provincial House Matunga Oratory was held on May 23 at the Fr Bernard Auditorium of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, bringing together over 100 children and their parents for a colourful celebration centred on peace, harmony, and human relationships.
Against the backdrop of growing global conflicts and unrest in various parts of the world — including tensions involving Iran, Israel, the United States of America, Russia, Ukraine, Pakistan, and Afghanistan — the programme highlighted the urgent need for peace and reconciliation in society. Reflecting this concern, the annual day carried the theme, “Spread Peace, Build Relationship.”
Through a series of cultural performances, songs, dances, and skits, the children of the oratory conveyed messages of peace, mutual understanding, and unity. The performances invited the audience to become harbingers of peace, beginning with inner peace within oneself and extending it to society at large.
The programme was inaugurated by Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, Rector of the Provincial House, in the presence of teachers and student representatives. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the efforts of the children and organisers in promoting the values of peace and relationship-building through creative expression.
A special highlight of the evening was the distribution of prizes to students who excelled academically and in various talent competitions. Students who excelled in academics received cash prizes from a generous donor.
The children expressed their gratitude to Fr George Miranda, Director of the Oratory, for his constant encouragement, guidance, and support in nurturing their talents and personal growth.
Cleric Alson organised the annual day programme with staff and volunteers, whose dedicated efforts ensured the event ran smoothly.
