'RISE UP! Express to Impress' Camp Empowers Young Minds at Boscowadi
The spirit of Don Bosco came alive at Boscowadi, Gorai, from October 19 to 26, as 56 young students completed the intensive "RISE UP! Express to Impress" Camp—a week-long programme designed to nurture holistic growth and essential life skills. The camp's success left participants recharged in mind, body, and spirit, true to the Salesian ideal of joyful learning and purposeful living.
Targeting students from the 6th and 7th standards, the camp revolved around the theme "Reinvent. Improve. Speak. Excel." Each day's tightly scheduled 15-hour routine—from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.—was filled with activities that combined learning, discipline, creativity, and play, transforming every moment into an opportunity for growth.
A dedicated 12-member animating team guided the camp. It included Salesians Frs. George, Ajay, and Richard SDB, two Sisters from the Holy Spirit congregation, six volunteers, and several well-wishers. Their collective passion and commitment shaped a vibrant, supportive environment where the young participants thrived.
Training sessions focused on key areas such as Personality Development and Leadership Skills, helping students build confidence and take on responsibility. Equally important were the sessions on Holiness and Emotional Well-being, emphasizing inner formation through personal mentoring and reflection. A standout feature was the module on Building Healthy Digital Habits, equipping the children with the discipline to manage screen time wisely in today's digital age.
True to the "Express to Impress" theme, the programme devoted special attention to Public Speaking and Communication Skills, fostering eloquence and self-assurance. Daily English and Math classes reinforced academic learning, ensuring a well-rounded development of both intellect and character.
Balancing duty with delight, the Salesian educational spirit infused every aspect of camp life. The day began with the Holy Eucharist, grounding students in faith, while evenings brimmed with laughter and camaraderie through beach games and swimming sessions.
By the camp's conclusion, participants left Boscowadi not only with sharpened skills but with hearts inspired to "Rise Up" — to grow, serve, and shine.
