Salesian Province of Bangalore Kick-Starts PC 15

The 15th Provincial Chapter of the Salesian Province of Bangalore began at Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore, on April 24, 2022, to discuss the implementation of the General Chapter with the theme, ‘What Kind of Salesians for the Youth of Today. In the presence of ninety-six delegates and Salesian Family members, Father Jose Koyickal, Provincial, inaugurated PC 15. 

In his address, Father Koyickal invited the Chapter members to see the Chapter as God’s call to introspect and reflect on the role of Salesians for the youth of today. The moderator, Father TC George, handed over the Chapter kit, christened as PC 15 Synodal Bag, to Father Koyickal, after which he declared the Chapter open. The moderator lit the PC 15 Lamp at the image of Don Bosco as a sign of entrusting the Chapter days to the prayerful intercession of St John Bosco.

Sr Tessy Joseph, Provincial of Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians, felicitated the gathering and asked the Chapter members to modify and find answers to the age-old question who am I to for whom am I? Sr Helsa, Vice-Provincial of Sisters of Mary Immaculate in the felicitation, invited the members to be creative and daring in actualizing the Salesian charism. Sr Molly Joseph, the novice mistress of FMA Bangalore Province, representing the FMA Provincial, stressed the Synodality among the Salesian Family members. Mr Glen, President of Don Bosco Alumni, spoke of the ever-growing relevance of the Salesian charism in the contemporary world of disruption due to technology. Mr John Bosco representing ADMA promised prayerful support from the association during the Chapter. 

The Chapter members remembered the deceased confreres of the Province with gratitude at the commencement of the Chapter.
