Salesian Province of Chennai Begins Provincial Chapter

The Salesian Province of St. Thomas the Apostle, Chennai (INM) began the Provincial Chapter on February 22, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Kilpauk, Chennai, with 116 Chapter members. Father Jose Kochamkunnel, Provincial, declared the Provincial Chapter open.
The Inaugural Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, Most Rev. Dr George Antonysamy, implored God`s blessings and guidance on the members of the Provincial Chapter. `Don Bosco has passed on a legacy and spirituality of accompaniment that needs to be lived in our mission with the youth today,` he said. The message of the General Councilor for South Asia Region, Father Biju Michael SDB, inviting the Chapter members to renew the commitment to the poorest young was readout. Sr. Lazar Maria Nirmala, Provincial of FMA, Chennai, Sr. Josphine Selvi, Superior General of SMA, Mr Aseervatham, Provincial Councilor for Salesian Cooperators, Mr Sathish, Delegate for INM Past Pupils Association, Ms Joy Sandhya, the local responsible of the INM VDBs, and Mr Lourdusamy, President of ADMA Unit, joined the inaugural ceremony and shared their reflections on refocusing and renewing the commitment for the young. Father Sivy Koroth sdb from the Salesian Province of Bangalore preached the recollection as a prelude to the Chapter on ``the significance of Lay participation in our Mission.`` The Provincial Chapter has its theme, ``Totally Consecrated to God, for the poorest young in Don Bosco`s way: Profile of the Salesian Today.``
