Governor of West Bengal Visits Salesian College, Sonada

His Excellency Shri MK Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal, visited Salesian College, Sonada on Monday, June 2, 2014. He inaugurated the first batch of BASE (Bosco Academy of Skills and Employment) programme.
Shri MK Narayan was welcomed by Fr. Shaji Joseph, Rector. After a short interaction with the students, the faculty members and the local representatives, there was a felicitation programme during which dances were performed and ``Salesians in the Himalayas`` was screened. In appreciation of the life time achievements of his Excellency Shri MK Narayanan in the field especially of national security as National Security Advisor to the Government of India and earlier as the Intelligence Bureau Director for over a decade, the Principal presented him a copy each of the College Publications. In his address to the staff and the students Shri MK Narayanan lauded the services rendered by Christian missionary educational institutions in India, of which he himself was a beneficiary. He also appreciated the work of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He invited the students to imbibe the fine moral spirit which the Christian institutions impart. Shri MK Narayanan inaugurated the first batch of BASE (Bosco Academy of Skills and Employment) programme with 72 students and 4 Trainers in Hospitality Management, housed in the new Platinum Jubilee Block of the College. After a short photo session and interaction with the Fathers, while taking leave the Governor promised to be present for the conclusion of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Salesian College in November.
