Kerela, Day Two - Coming together and sharing is the best thing to happen, said the Rector Major, as he began the second day of visit in the province of Bangalore with the Holy Eucharist at Don Bosco Aluva. The Salesian Family members of Kerala region participated in the Holy Eucharist concelebrated by Father Maria Arokiam, the Regional, Father Joyce, the Provincial, Father Tom Uzhunnalil, Father Horacio Lopez, the secretary of the RM and other Salesian priests. The RM exhorted everyone to be transparent like Jesus. In an exclusive audience with the family members of Father Tom Uzhunnalil, the Rector Major thanked them for their prayerful support and concern during the agonizing days of Fr Tom with his abductors.

Shri Oommen Chandy, the Chief Minister of Kerala, inaugurated the concluding celebrations of Don Bosco Birth Bicentenary at Shakthan Nagar, Thrissur, on 3rd October 2015. Mar Raphael Thattil, the Auxiliary Bishop of Thrissur, gave the Benedictory Address. Fr Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, Salesian Provincial of Bangalore, rendered the Presidential Address.

The youth of Kerala celebrated the Bicentenary of Don Bosco`s Birth with a Youth Convention simultaneously held at five venues from 8-10 May 2015. The event concluded with a Walk with Don Bosco on Marine Drive, Kochi.

KATHMANDU : In the face of the enormous human tragedy that resulted from the 7.8 earthquake that flattened much of Nepal on 25 April, the sons and daughters of Don Bosco rose valiantly to the occasion, keeping alive his legacy of compassionate response to the afflicted, a` la Turin`s cholera epidemic of 1854, translating their characteristic pastoral charity into speedy and wide-ranging humanitarian assistance.

Hyderabad: The Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia (SPCSA) held its annual General Assembly meeting on 24-25 February, and the SPCSA Council meeting on 26-27 February 2015 at the Salesian Provincial House of Hyderabad. About 40 Salesians from the 12 provinces of the region took part in the two day General Assembly. The participants comprised of the provincial Superiors of all 12 provinces of India and Sri Lanka, and the heads of commissions of the various sectors of apostolate and network groups. The Provincial Conference is headed by the Regional Councillor Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga.

A youth convention attended by nearly 1000 people from all over Karnataka was held from 6 to 8 February 2015, during which ecclesiastical and political leaders joined the youth in paying glowing tribute to Don Bosco in this bicentenary year of his birth.

Rome : The first Strenna of Fr Angel Fernandez Artime as Rector Major was presented to the Salesian Family yesterday, 27 December, at the Generalate of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Rome. The strenna titled, ``Like Don Bosco, with young people, for young people``, seems like a return to the essence of the Salesian charism, reports ANS the Salesian News Agency in Rome.

The President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee visited Don Bosco Catholic Church Palsondamore, in West Bengal, on 24 August, 2014, and laid the foundation stone for a mini hospital under the parish. It was a historic event in the annals of this small Parish of the diocese of Krishnagar, W.B., with a majority tribal population. The president was accompanied by his son Shri Abijit Mukherjee, Member of Parliament.
