On Sunday, 23 October 2022, during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Don Bosco, Lonavla, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, presented a citation to Mrs Sonali Shelke, in recognition for her social outreach among the poorest of the poor. Mrs Shelke has been on Don Bosco’s outreach staff since 2009. She resides at Bhaje village near Karla, 90 kilometers from Mumbai.

Fishermen Community Development Program (FCDP) of the Salesian Province of Bangalore has marked the beginning of yet another phase of its creative community involvement with the inauguration and the first phase of its distribution of electric autos to women on August 4, 2021, in Kollam, Kerala. FCDP is a voluntary organization founded in 1979, under the guidance and leadership of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Bangalore Province, for the integral development of all fisherfolk living in the coastal area of Kollam (Quilon).

The Salesians of Don Bosco in Mumbai, have taken the Covid-19 challenge head-on, in compliance with the civic administration`s directives, to bring relief aid to the most poor and abandoned within Mumbai City limits and in other parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat. In Mumbai City - Matunga, Wadala, Andheri and Nerul - MumbaiSalesians are ensuring that the necessary daily basic requirements of the most poor, especially of those residing in the slum pockets of Mumbai are being addressed, in their battle for survival against the Covid-19.

The Salesians, faculty and students at Don Bosco College Angadikadavu are bracing the Covid-19 crisis, amidst lockdown and physical distancing, to reach out to the needy with food kits. Each provision kit worth Rs. 1000/- contains rice, wheat flour, pulses, oil, vegetables and other edibles for a 07 days. About 20 deserving families have been helped thus far in the vicinity of the College campus that currently functions as a quarantine care centre under the District Administration of Kannur.

The Salesians of Don Bosco of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Province Bangalore [INK] have started a production of masks initiative with the wives of fishermen from Kerala state, to aid health workers and railway staff, in the battle against Covid-19.

Jorhat: The annual cultural tourism extravaganza, Ethnique, in Jorhat, Assam, came to a grand finale on 4 January, with the heart thumbing dance show by Rhythm of Dance, led by Mr. Bapi Saikia of Baghchung. Prior to the dance show was a fashion parade in both ethnic and modern outfits by the students of The Ramp Modeling Institute, put together by Mr. Pranjit Chetia. Miss Tridisha Baruah , Jorhat`s own child and one of the busiest models in the entire India, walked the ramp together with Daniel Brunen of Germany for the two-rounds fashion parade. Anchoring the parade was Miss Mausuma Farheen, a JB College student.

. NEW DELHI: BOSCO (Bosco Organisation for Social Concern and Operation), New Delhi has won the Pascual Chavez Award for Innovative Ministry, after having been short listed along with 3 other out reach ministry expressions of the Salesian Family for the year 2013. The award was conferred on 28 May 2014 at Yercaud, Salem, on BOSCO, a refugee assistance programme in operation in the Indian Capital New Delhi. The award which consists of a citation and monetary token of appreciation was handed over to Fr. Jose Mathew, Director of BOSCO by Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, the Regional Councillor of the Salesians for South Asia. The ceremony took place in the presence of over 40 Salesians who had gathered together for the annual general assembly of the Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia (SPCSA) at ``The Retreat``, Yercaud, Salem.

Jorhat: Institution for Culture And Rural Development (I-CARD), Jorhat, concluded another of its bi-annual meeting, called Lekop Sil Mel, of the past and the present trainees on 6th September. The event which started on 31st August was a training cum meeting centred around the theme of `recap, refill, resolve` for the students of Karsang Takar, empowerment centre for school dropouts. 90 young people from eight districts of Assam and three districts of Arunachal Pradesh took part in the rejuvenating and resourceful progrmame with their life time `gurus` and mentors - Fr. Thomas, Rajen Perme and Indira Perme.

The Relic of Saint John Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco, has been accorded a grand welcome at various places in Mumbai. It now remains at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians (Don Bosco`s Madonna) in Matunga, for public veneration for four days.

Don Bosco, Hospet has been active in the field of social reach out in the villages for the last 25 years. In the month of February, 25 village animators and 160 Self Help Group leaders were empowered with capacity building programmes.

The staff of Don Bosco, Yadgir are trained to perform street plays on social themes. About 28 staff have been trained for one week.

Through Women`s Day celebrations, CHITHRA (Centre for Human Intervention and Training in Holistic Rural Action) the social development wing of Don Bosco, Chitradurga reached out to 7000 women in 80 villages and 15 slums of Chitradurga district.
