The Salesian Province of Jesus the Good Shepherd, New Delhi, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its Foundation (1997-2022) on February 19, 2022. A thanksgiving Holy Eucharist presided over by His Excellency, Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio to India, celebrated the story of dreams, struggles and indomitable spirit of the Province in the past twenty-five years.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has inducted Father Don Bosco Lourdusamy, Vice Provincial of Salesian Province of Chennai (INM), as a member of the State Minority Commission in official communication on Tuesday.

Malayalam Short Story writer and a Past Pupil of Don Bosco Arts & Science College Angadikadavu, Kerala, Abin Joseph, has been selected for this year`s Kendra Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar. Abin`s short story collection, ``Kalliassery Thesis``, won the prestigious award. ``Kalliassery Thesis`` is a collection of eight short stories. The award consists of 50,000 in cash and a plaque.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has appointed Father Raj Mariasusai as a member of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. Father Mariasusai, by this order of the Governor, has become a member of a Constitutional Commission mandated by the Indian Constitutions and has executive powers.

Even as the unfortunate COVID-19 lockdown proved to be a difficult time for many, the Salesians of the Province of Bangalore [INK], managed to complete and inaugurate a new residential facility in Hospet, for rescued child labourers.

Mumbai Salesians` Father [Dr.] Ajoy Fernandes who has a doctorate in Counselling Psychology with a major in Clinical Counselling and is Director Prafulta-Don Bosco Youth Counselling Services, Matunga-Mumbai, presents an online episodic video-series `Understanding and Helping Children with Learning Difficulties`. The video-series starting today 05 September, and to be aired on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month, on the MumbaiSalesians` Youtube Channel, are broken up into short 10-minute interactive inputs describing the symptoms of learning and related difficulties; the formal and informal ways of assessing these difficulties; the types of beneficial interventions possible and the government-endorsed concessions across India. This is a Teachers` Day gift from the famed clinical psychologist, as an appreciation to teachers all over, who mould, nourish, nurture, inspire, motivate, enlighten and mentor students on a daily basis.

Indian Salesian Father Ernest Rosario, South Asia Delegate for Social Communication is appointed Coordinator for the newly established Salesian International Commission for Social Communication, as of 26 August 2020. At an online meet organized by the General Councilor for Social Communications, Father Gildasio dos Santos Mendes, attended by the Coordinators of the Delegates for Social Communication of the various Regions - Zaida Elisa Navarrete (America), Father Pierluigi Lanotte (Mediterranean Europe), Fatherr James Gardner (Central-Northern Europe), Father Ernest Rosario (South Asia), Father Lijo Vadakkan (Africa-Madagascar) and Father Peter P Chinh (East Asia-Oceania) - Father Rosario was requested to head the newly established international committee.

Don Bosco Alumnus/Past-Pupil Shri Robert Shetkintong (Dilbung) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Robert joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2001. In 2003, he was posted to the Indian Mission in Tel Aviv as a language trainee (Hebrew). On completion of language course, he was posted to the Indian Embassy in Rome, and was there for almost 4 years. He then returned to New Delhi and served at the Headquarters between 2009 and 2012. He subsequently served at the Indian Mission in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania).

In view of the International Day of Youth, on 12 August 2020, from 6pm-9pm, the Salesian Provinces of Chennai [INM] and Tiruchy [INT] organized an online listening forum, to listen to 23 young people from different walks of life in the State of Tamil Nadu. The young people voiced out in 06 minutes each, their varied experiences, during the pandemic months, of actively demonstrating love for God, love for neighbour and love for nature

Father [Dr] Francis Karackat of the Salesian Province of Bangalore [INK] has penned 02 books,`Journalism: A Manual for Budding Reporters` and `Journalism: A Manual for Budding Sub-Editors`. Father Karackat, with a University of Kerala Doctorate in Journalism on `Ethics in Newspaper Journalism in Kerala`, is also the recipient of the `Best Inspiring Writer in Malayalam`-Shalom Media Award 2019, and is an acclaimed author of 33 books.

The Salesians of Don Bosco at Bharoul-Chakraghatti, East Nepal, managing 02 schools are conducting classes for 1500 students using 42 hired rooms, each called a community classroom. Every community centre with 10 students in attendance help to overcome the COVID-19 restrictions. The entire 46 member teaching faculty of both schools and the ancillary staff are ensuring the sustained consistency of this innovative educative method which started on 16 July 2020.

The annual Don Bosco Communication [BOSCOM] South Asia Executive Body Meeting took place via Google Meet on 17 and 18 July 2020. Convened by BOSCOM South Asia Delegate Father Ernest Rosario, the participants from the 11 provinces of South Asia were privileged to be accompanied throughout by the General Councillor for Social Communications Father Gildásio Mendez dos Santos. The executive body discussed, deliberated and debated the post-pandemic way forward on the theme, `How Can We Creatively Accompany Young People in the Virtual World`.

Mumbai Salesians` Dominic Savio Andheri-Mumbai Alumni [Past Pupils], scored a century [100 days] of relentless COVID-19 Food Relief, reaching out to 01 million at 65 locations in Mumbai, as part of the `Feed My Mumbai` campaign. With the intention to ensure that no one sleeps hungry, freshly cooked nutritious meals to the disadvantaged needy were distributed by these past-pupils, volunteers and Salesians, stepping out of their homes bravely for a noble cause. The significant milestone was reached on 12 July 2020, by 300 PPDS (Past Pupils of St Dominic Savio)Corona Warriors.

Father Anthony Mahimai Dass of the Salesian Province of Bangalore [INK], successfully defended his doctoral research thesis titled ``Jesuit Letters and Mysore History: Annual Letters and Relations of Mysore Mission as Source for the Secular History of Mysore Kingdom from AD 1648 till 1704`` at the Gregorian University, Rome, on 06 July 2020. The thesis was guided by Dr Vitor D�lio Jacinto de Mendon�a, SJ.
