YaR Standardization Training Programme for Bangalore Province

Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk (YaR) offered two-day training in Standardization of YaR centres at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bangalore, on 6 & 7 July 2013. Fr. Mathew Thomas SDB (Secretary, National Forum) was the chief resource person. There were about 25 participants from 14 Yar centres in the province.

``The whole standardization process is an earnest effort to achieve excellence,`` said Fr. Kuriakose Puthenpurayil (Provincial Coordinator for YaR and Director, Don Bosco Child Labour Mission, Davangere) as he welcomed the gathering. Fr. Thomas Anchukandam (Provincial, Salesian Province of Bangalore) in his inaugural message called for Conviction, Commitment, Competence, Compliance and Collaboration in the service of the young. The resource person conducted the training dealing with the Background and Relevance of Standardization, the Role of YaR Commission in the province, the YaR Directory and Membership, YaR Interventions, YaR Centres, Dates important for YaR Mission, Standards for YaR centres and YaR commission, etc. The participants benefited much from the training especially by way of bringing greater clarity with regard to YAR and instilling confidence in them. In order to incarnate love for the young at risk, the assembly decided to spend quality time with the young on a daily basis. Fr. K.O. Thomas (Vice-Provincial) presided over the concluding function.
