University of North Bengal Vice Chancellor announces Salesian College deemed-to-be Autonomous.

Siliguri - The Vice Chancellor of the University of North Bengal with additional charge of Darjeeling Hill University Prof. Om Prakash Mishra announced "Salesian College deemed-to-be Autonomous". 

“The process of granting autonomous status will be completed in one month time,” adds the Vice Chancellor who was addressing college community on the annual sports day.

Salesian College, with its campuses in Siliguri and Sonada in Darjeeling district is a Government recognized, minority educational institution of the Catholic Church, run by Salesians of Don Bosco, Kolkata Province.

Currently some 2,100 students do their Arts/Humanities, Commerce, Science and Professional Courses under the North Bengal University from 20 departments in Undergraduate Honours Courses as well as Post Graduate Courses in English, Education and Psychology in Siliguri.

Another 400 students pursue Undergraduate studies in 10 courses in Sonada, Darjeeling.

The academic community is lead by a team of 10 Salesians in management and 104 faculty members.

The college having completed 3 NAAC accreditation cycles have retained “A” grade in the last two, and is now gearing up for fourth cycle. The college has retained two rounds of its status as College with Potential for Excellence.
