Inauguration and Blessing of Don Bosco College, Bangalore

The inauguration of Don Bosco College, TC Palya, Bangalore, on March 9, 2023, was a much-awaited historic moment graced by the presence of Father Miguel Angel (General Councillor for Youth Pastoral), Father Biju Michael (Regional Councillor for South Asia), Father Jose Koyickal (Provincial, Bangalore Province), Father Shalbin, the Vice Provincial, Father Joy (Economer), Monsignor C. Francis Monsignor S. Jayanathan, Father Alex (Rector, Visvadeep) and Father Bosco (Rector, Kristu Jyothi College).

The inauguration started with cutting the ribbon at the gate, followed by the traditional ‘arti’ with flowers, incense and light. The statue of Don Bosco, the Patron of the college, was unveiled by Father Biju Michael. Father Miguel Angel inaugurated the main building, followed by prayers and blessings on the entire campus. Father Yesudass, Assistant Director, Don Bosco College, started the programme by expressing the need to dream the impossible dream and to walk the Don Bosco Way. The invocation dance was followed by the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the guests.

Father Alex (Rector, Visvadeep) delivered the welcome address and stressed that Don Bosco College would cater to the needs of the locality with state-of-art infrastructure and dedicated faculty members that would be affordable. Father Jose Koyickal, Provincial, delivered the Presidential address and appreciated the efforts of everyone and accentuated that the college would serve the poorest of the poor and equip the youth to achieve their dreams. Father Miguel Angel delivered the inaugural address and insisted that students avail themselves the opportunities, dream big and have the patience to achieve their dreams. Addressing the faculty members, he stressed the need for loving-kindness and preparing students for life.

Father Biju Michael highlighted the role of educational institutions and the need to follow the Don Bosco pedagogy. Monsignor C. Francis conveyed the greetings of the Archbishop of Bangalore, Rev. Dr Peter Machado, and appreciated the efforts of the Salesians. He stated that Don Bosco College, TC Palya, is the dream of many people in the locality and hoped that the college would soon be a University. The event was a platform to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work by felicitating the architect Mr Adithya, Mr Tom, MD of Gina Engineering Company Private Limited, Mr Syed Khader, the Structural Engineer and all those who played their role in the construction, completion and visualization of the dream, Don Bosco College. The event concluded with the whole gathering singing the praises of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the College Choir sang the ‘Ave Maria’.
