The Don Bosco School Excellence Mission (DBSEM) organized a one-day programme at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati, for students across Don Bosco schools of the Province of Guwahati to commemorate the centenary of the arrival of the Salesians to Northeast India. Students from 23 schools numbering 125 across Assam and Meghalaya States participated in six events.

The DBSEM Inter-School Competitions started at Mama Margaret Hall of Don Bosco Pan Bazar, Guwahati, and Father Joseph Mung SDB, Vice Principal of Don Bosco Guwahati, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Father Januarius S. Sangma, Provincial of Guwahati Province, was the chief guest. Father Sangma expressed his happiness to see the students from the different parts of the province honour and celebrate Don Bosco through various competitions and the missionaries who brought the light of education to the northeast. Father Joseph Teron SDB, Vice-Provincial, and Father Benny P Basil SDB, Economer, were present for the occasion.

It was a day of celebration, competition and interaction for 125 students from 23 Don Bosco schools across Lower Assam, West Karbi Anglong, Garo Hills, Bodoland Territorial Region, and Kamrup Rural to showcase their singing, dancing, drawing, music, writing and oratorial skills. It was a time of learning and growing for the boys and girls from different backgrounds like remote, rural, semi-rural, suburban and urban setups. The exposure was enriching and educative, said the participants and the teachers who accompanied the students. Father Benny SDB, Economer, handed the prizes and certificates to the winners. Don Bosco Higher Secondary School emerged as the overall winner of the whole event and took home the trophy. Father Benny, in his speech, pointed out the importance of real-time interactions and sharing for growth among students in a world that is losing itself in the digital realm. He also commended the works by DBSEM and appreciated Father Sebastian Kuricheal SDB,  in charge and Mr Samuel VK, the coordinator, for the arrangements and the execution of the day's programme.
