Don Bosco Youth Village celebrates Women's Day
International Women's Day was celebrated on March 6, 2023, at Don Bosco Youth Village Susaipudayanpatti, Tiruchy. Eight hundred Self-Help Group members of 57 groups covering 24 villages participated in the celebration. Ramon Magsaysay award winner Mr Kulandai Francis, Founder-President, IVDP Krishnagiri, presided over the function and addressed the gathering on the importance of Self-Help Groups and the opportunities for improving the per capita income of the family through SHGs.
Father John Dharman welcomed the gathering, highlighting the achievements of Don Bosco SHGs in the past five years. Mr T.Selvam Councilor of Pudukottai District, Keeranur Vicariate Father Arulanandam V. F, Mr Ananth Manikkam, President, Keeranur Town Commerce Association, Mrs Meera Ravikumar, Keeranur Town Panchayat President, and Mrs Diviya Suresh, Melapuduvayal Panchayat President, graced the function.
Father Amalorpavaraj, Director, Cauvery Development Office, Trichy, addressed the women and motivated them towards higher goals in life. Father John Barnabas, Director of Don Bosco Self Help Groups, distributed coconut saplings to all the participants. Women's groups staged various folk dances and cultural events, and the celebration concluded with lunch.
